Using the Document Viewer

 

 

 

The document viewer can view the following formats:

 

Image Based Documents - PDF, TIFF, JPG, BMP and GIF files are viewed using the HTML5 viewer.

Adobe PDF - PDFs are viewed using the Adobe PDF browser plug-in. Note, the user can either use the Adobe PDF plug-in or the HTML5 viewer to display documents.

Text Based Documents - Text documents are viewed using HTML5 viewer and XML, HTML are viewed directly in the browser.

Microsoft Office - If using an On-Premise solution then Microsoft Office documents can be displayed in the browser if you have Microsoft Office documents installed on your local machine. If you are using a solution in the Portford Cloud then it uses the online Office Viewer that does not require a installation of Microsoft Office.

 

 

Using the Image Viewer


The image viewer is browser independent and does not require a plug-in to be installed. When you display an image document the viewer display the thumbnails and the pages:

 

The following table provides an overview of the different viewer menu options:

Rotates the page anti-clockwise 90 degrees. Note, if there are annotations then these are rotated with the page, but text annotations are kept up-right do the text can be read.

The document is converted to an Adobe PDF format and displayed in a browser pop-up. You can use the Adobe printing feature to print the document to a printer.

You can enter the specific page number to jump to, or use the page navigation buttons (first page, previous page, next page and last page).

You can select a zoom percentage from the zoom pick-list or use the zoom in and out buttons:

Select and draw a line annotation on the page.

Select and draw an arrow annotation on the page.

Select and draw a circle annotation on the page.

Select and draw a square box annotation on the page.

Select and redact a portion of the page to obscure the text.

Select and redact a portion of the page to obscure the text. Note, a redaction is security based and if you have redaction administration rights on the document you will be able to hide the redaction. For regular users the redaction objects cannot be moved or hidden.

Select and add text to an area of the page.

Select a color for the annotation or redaction:

If you have the permissions, then selecting this option hides the annotations.

This option displays annotations previously hidden.

Selecting this will change the mode back to document navigation from the annotation mode.

Displays information about the selected annotation.

Deletes the selected annotation.

Clears all annotations.

Saves annotations.

Discards the annotations.

You can search for text either within the whole document or the currently selected page. On entering the search criteria use the down arrow to review the results. Each instance is highlighted in the text:
